I’m usually very good at citing my references for pictures but these are from my personal collection that I have right clicked or screen captured for years. I understand that it isn’t proper blog etiquette to not give credit to the original source. Unfortunately, I don’t remember where they all came from. Just enjoy.

V Mag editorial shot

Oh how festive! What will come out of her? Surely no blood. Her pallor suggests that her friends have bled her dry. Hmm. Kinda reminds me of Sophie Dahl in those banned YSL Opium ads.  Let me remind you if you have forgotten. The above image above is from the V Magazine #57 editorial Hell’s Bellas.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love Maison Martin Margiela. When I was in Antwerp last year, I felt at home knowing that it was his birthplace (semi-fanatical). There was a time where I was visiting the site up to ten times a day roaming the archives of pictures and past collections. I was browsing eBay this morning for a specific pair of Ann Demeulemeester boots and ended up checking on some Margiela items. I came across a Martin Margiela Autumn/Wnter 1998/1999 catalogue. The photobook was photographed by Mark Borthwick and features Stella Tennant. I enjoy the paperback tone of the book.

I figured since we are on the subject of Margiela, I will walk you through the site. Type in the URL and immediately, Maison greets visitors with a warning. The site is has a very lo-fi programmer feel. It is cold, but first and foremost, straightforward, functional. The number chart is the legend explaining the denotations in the Margiela labels. My favorite section is the archive that looks like a bookshelf. You click on the spine to peruse the collection.

I was combing through my picture folders and came across some that looked very candid, snapshoty, and overexposed. I am so glad that I labeled the files after the photographer’s name instead of a short description of the pic because then, I wouldn’t be able to share these with you. These are from the site of EMIR ERALP. I love his style. I sifted through the entire site and selected these for you. These images make we want to pump out some clothes for the sole purpose of shooting them. Selling them would only be a bonus. Fire. And when I visit a large body of work like this, I aim to see every single picture and get frustrated when it takes longer than it should. I wish that I could digest images a lot quicker, like a super computer.  I suppose listening to Pomme by Sebastien Tellier helped the process. Just a side-note, but did you know that that mo-fo sings in English, Italian, and French? Double fire.

I picked these from the Chris Varenne’s editorial portfolio because it is illustrated, and I just don’t see this type of work that often. It also doesn’t hurt that Kate Moss is in it. On the subject of Kate, I linked that infamous video (you know which one I’m talking about) just for old times sake. Varenne is represented by JedRoot, and the images were featured in NUMERO Magazine. They conjure up images of Austrian artists and Bjork.

Guess who? This daisy fresh ingenue is none other than Miss Lara Stone. Who knew in 1999, the date these pictures surfaced, that the girl above would morph into the modern day Bardot?

ls-no-onels-magspread

This is the “it girl” that fashion editors and photographers clamor to work with.  The model who never seems to be able to keep her clothes on. With that said, here are plenty of shots of Stone with her clothes on. The further you scroll, the less clothes she has on. Now, a comment that will make you feel better and remember this when you take a peek at the pictures ahead. Without the crew of people, the lights and the Photoshop, she looks normal, like someone you’d see in the street or in line at the market.

I will leave you with the iD magazine editorial Between A Rock And A Hard Place (November 2008). If these don’t whet your appetite, see more here.

In the latest Vogue Paris (February 2009), Lara Stone is featured in the provacative editorial Lara Fiction Noire. I am at a loss of words.

batAmanda stopped by before heading to a birthday mixer and I thought her outfit was just lovely. My dog was overly excited and ravaged her stockings (oops). Other the other hand, this really cute girl came into the shop on Saturday and I was quite enamored with her purse. It looks like a mix between old Coach made better with Mulberry characteristics. She said that she scored it at Urban Outfitters for only 10 bucks. Guess where I rushed to after work.

Milano

My web browser automatically opens to The Sartorialist. I visit countless blogs every week and have never really commented on any postings or pictures. Today, I finally did because of this picture. I absolutely love the judicious color palette, texture, asymmetrical balance. I could go on and on. She looks like Melanie Ward, a stylist who loved Helmut Lang and Martin Margiela. I used to read Harper’s Baazar religiously back in the 90s under the direction of Liz Tilberis and that was where I learned of Melanie.  I am sure that this street shot picture is not her, but I am glad that it triggered that memory. I remember being so hungry for fashion then. If I sparked your curiosity about Melanie click here to learn her background.

I worked at the College Park Dechoes two days in a row. I figured that I would do the standard -here’s what I wore- blog shots. In the first picture, I’m wearing a little boys tuxedo shirt, skinnies, and black equestrian-style JIGSAW boots. The next shot features a patterned shift, suprisingly from Old Navy (I know, I know) but could easily be mistaken for vintage. Oh and the boots look vintage too but are Rockport (again, I know, I know). I was channeling a look from the  A.P.C. Fall/WInter 09 Collection.

The end shot are of my coworkers Eddie and Delila. I always feel awkward taking self-timed photos of myself, so I was delighted when Delila took some candids for me.

Holiday has officially ended. It ended a week ago, and I am now getting around to blogging again (apologies). This is the desk that collects my sweat and blood. Seriously, I’m not kidding, see the EXACTO blade? I am getting back into the swing of things and will have a fresh new mini-collection out in the next few weeks. The sketch at the top is something that I found in an antiques shop in Pagosa Springs. It is one of many sketches from a woman who sketched garments for the Montgomery Ward catalog in the 60s. I picked up some sketches for Katie and Amanda too.

If you are ever in Pagosa Springs, visit MAIN STREET ANTIQUES (438 B Pagosa Street, Pagosa Springs, CO 81147).

It was refreshing to wake up every morning and see miles of snow. We made a snow slide in the backyard when the slopes were closed, and we were in the midst of a blizzard. Everyone went to town that day. I will proudly say that no yeti or blizzard can keep me from scouring the local charity shops for vintage treasures. Unfortunately, I never made it to the hot springs that Pagosa Springs is famous for. That just sounded like a recipe for holiday pneumonia.

On our road trip to and from Colorado, we stopped to stay in Wichita Falls and Amarillo, Texas. This is all I can really say about Texas and its posted above. Believe it or not- if you go to Texas and order waffles, they will be served as shown.
