I like the combination of clothing items that don’t necessarily make sense but look great styled in editorials. You know, big sweaters or hoodies over barely there bikinis, or in this case- beat up boots with lycra and lace. It looks like she had a bad morning running errands, came home, tore off her clothes and threw them wherever in her just-moved-in sparsely furnished flat. This story is from Regia Magazine (Issue 4/April 2009).

I just randomly found this Miranda July video on Philly-based the Big Ugly blog. It’s like walking through a book. Delightful! The installation is called The Hallway (Yokohama Triennale 2008). Please take five minutes out of your day to watch it. And please, don’t make me repeat myself about the watchin’.

There is a gorgeous street shot of Miss Wen texting outside of the CHLOE show on JAK&JIL blog. She is just- she- she leaves me speechless.

Here are some of my favorite things right now:

1. Old SONIC YOUTH albums.

<< Sonic Youth (uh huh) >>

Songs that I recommend: Screaming Skull, Bull in the Heather, I Dreamed A Dream and Panty Lies.

2. My mother’s organically homegrown lychee fruit.

They are in season, and I am happy. The only other time that I was able to pull one right off a tree and eat it was on the Big Island, HI.

3.  Coffee Ice-cream

Häagen-Dazs is the best but I’m happy with which ever brand is around.

4. French VOGUE Collections Issue 8

<< My desk and French Vogue Collections >>

Brook gifted me this monster of a magazine, and I have been obsessed with it. My picks are Margiela, Isabel Marant, Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, Christopher Kane, and Comme des Garcons.

5.  Red Bull’s Simply Cola

red_bull_simply_cola

I have a weakness for energy drinks. And the weird taste of taurine doesn’t really bother me. I also love a Coke from the can if available. There is something very satisfying about hearing the sharp crack and hiss when you open it. This new Red Bull drink, introduced to me by Katie (she gets boat-loads of upper drinks at ETOILE), is tricky tricky. It tastes just like cola with no detectable hint of that energy additive taste. So practice temperance with these babies or your heart may explode.

That’s that. Happy summer everyone, and I hope that you try at least one of the things mentioned above.

Amanda in DALAT Pentimento dressAmanda in DALAT dress, EXPOSTFACTO+VINTAGE hat

I have been working on more dresses and such. And on top of that, gathering a new pile of vintage for EXPOSTFACTO and sifting through miles of old DALAT images for a look book that you can flip through on the site.
