I was clicking around the NY Times this morning and was pleased to find such a clever and subversive body of work from the late artist Tobias Wong.

I had no idea that he had died earlier this month until I realized that he was being referred to in the past tense.  I read both articles on Wong and am saddened by the death of such a young and talented artist.

He was a rising star on his way to becoming the next Duchamp, already offending Issey Miyake. He had a Jenny Holzer Truism tattooed on his inner right arm, admired the work of Wong Kar-Wai, and was also prone to sleepwalking. According to the Times article by Alex Williams, Wong was even creative in his sleep world crafting “funny outfits for his cats”.

Please take time out to view the slideshow and to read the NY Times articles below.

Nothing makes me more excited than a happy client.

Allow me also to add that when said client happens to look absolutely stunning in one of your designs, well, that’s like winning the designer lottery.

Meet V.

Did I mention that she’s whip smart and sweet as apple pie? Go to her blog. You’ll see.

Mister Helmut Lang was born on March 10th, 1956 (a Pisces like me). According to Ten Magazine (Summer 2010, Issue 35), his line was the closest that fashion got to a cohesive philosophy. The Lang woman was austere in appearance and wore next-to-nothing make-up.

Ten Magazine: Outside of art, what are the things that make you happy or sad?

Helmut Lang: Possibly everything.

<< Japanese Penguin Lala | Courtesy of Kitsune Noir >>

Before you do anything today, watch this video of Lala the Penguin courtesy of Kitsune Noir. Lala lives in Japan, wears a – get this, a penguin backpack and loves the hell out of sardines and mackerel. My boyfriend sent me this link this morning and I have watched this video 13 times today already.

I’m not kidding.

After I finish this post, I’m going to watch it again while eating mango slices. Then, I will get to work.

I got stuck at the library today because of a monsoon that just happened while I browsing the 700s.

It was nice. I really enjoy hiccups in a schedule.

Everyone in unison just looked out the window, grabbed reading material and took a seat. I grabbed last month’s NY Times Mag which features M.I.A. as the cover lady. Her picture story is set in NY and is worth checking out.

It was really nice to sit and read somewhere different. I took notes on a really great article that delved deep into Generation Y, also referred to as Millenias, Echo Boomer and of course, Generation Me.

According to the Times, this group (1982 – 2002) is predicted to be “the next great generation”. Gen Me is surprisingly optimistic, idealistic and more importantly, destined to do good.

<< Minimalist red bedroom | Courtesy of Apartment Therapy >>

I am not a fan of red and I think it has something to do with my mother.

I painted my nails cherry red once and when she saw it, she had a fit. I took it off immediately. She always shook her head in disapproval to a red that she associated with loose girls. I am being polite because translated in out native tongue, it sounds quite harsh.

I will say that I do like the red in the bedroom above because it is used sparingly and strategically. I saved this picture because I plan on putting up a bunch of pictures in my workroom and need inspiration.

I love the imperfect cluster of frames. The ovals and rectangles and the way they are slightly off kilter from each other reminded me of the mosaic detail in Gustav Klimt’s work .

The pieces show above are listed under Early Works on the Christo and Jeanne-Claude site. You should read the Common Errors because, because well, they are hilarious.
