<< A MOMENT LIKE THIS >>
July 10th, 2010I was doing my regular thing this morning, trying to figure out what to post. Then, I checked my email and there was an unread from photographer Lukasz Wierzbowski who currently resides in Wroclaw, Poland. I still get a lot of random emails from artists from my old public art job and I always check them, just in case.
I am very attracted to these images. I just scanned through easily 50 of his pictures and my hit ratio was very high. I have a weak spot for honest poses, awkward/strangeness in an image, obstructed faces and hair.
Lukasz is able to freeze his subjects in this perfect moment. When I say perfect moment, I mean this minute window of time that shows up and vanishes. If you catch it, you catch it. If not, you’ll be beating your chest and gnashing your teeth.
You have to have your timing down to a neurotic art especially now with the digital delay. Before with film, you could see the very tip of that moment, squeeze down on the shutter and it was yours.
Take a break from Facebook and Twitter for the love of God. Look through more of his work. You’ll get sucked in.
